I need a new laptop. Vote -- mac or pc. I am receiving peer pressure both ways. I like PC's and know them well but all of the people I work with have macs.

Uhoh. I don't know. I haven't used a mac since high school. If you do choose the pc, you may have to put up with all the windows vista quirks - which could be the same learning curve as getting a mac. I've never used vista but Brad's had plenty of complaints about it.
If this is primarily for work, then I would suggest conforming with your other colleagues and getting a mac. It makes things easier. I would advise avoiding PCs for a while until they fix the myriad little problems with Vista (if ever).
