In retelling my journeys, as in making them, I do not know how to stop -- Rousseau

Blog? Yes, I don’t mind if I do. Nasty habit but it makes me happy.
I got to talk to Tracy yesterday. It was good to hear her voice. I went to class yesterday and realized that once again I know nothing about optical mineralogy. I will have to be studying some next week. A lot if I want to do well. It is hard to make up for a semester of slacking in one week. Instead of being inspired by my utter lack of knowledge and sitting down and studying I went to Arthur’s Pass with Tim. His car broke on the way. Actually, it was the steepest section of road and the car just got slower, began to steam and then stopped. Luckily some real Kiwi type man stopped towed us to the top and figured out there was no oil in the car in less than five minutes. It was amazing. That and we looked like complete morons b/c there was no oil in the car. Stupid Americans. After remedying that situation we continued on our quest to Devil’s Punch Bowl. We didn’t get there until 700 so we had to race up the path. I died. I am not inshape and have been living at sea level for a while. It was getting cold and the sun was no longer out when we got there. I went and stood under the waterfall anyway. It was too beautiful not too. Everything went numb it was straight snowmelt. It was so beautiful and amazing though. I highly recommend standing under waterfalls. We got changed and tried to find food. All we could get was cookies, hot chocolate and chips. Everything else had meat in it. Not the best dinner but it tasted good. On the way home we lay on the hood of his car and watched for satellites we saw 5 and I saw 4 shooting stars. It was a beautiful night but it is weird to not recognize constellations. I still cannot pick out the Southern Cross. We also saw hedgehogs crossing the road. At some point someone decided to release hedgehogs here and now they are running rampant.
