Last night I watched a program on PBS about diamonds. It really disturbed me. I knew about all of the civil wars in Africa being funded by diamonds and how it is wrong to buy diamonds because there is so much bloodshed over control of the mines, plus the whole deBeers thing but it was so sad. If PBS plays it again it was a really good documentary but so disturbing. They showed all of the people who had limbs amputated by rebels and talked about the awful conditions working in the mines. I feel awful wearing my diamond ring even thoough it is old. Though the conditions were probably much worse when my ring was mined so I don't know if I am better for it. I am just disturbed. Sorry, random, depressing blog. I neither know what to do about the situatuation or how to end this blog in order to complete my thought track...............
