Congrats to everyone that raced last Friday. I paced up and down the hall of my flat and checked the internet every hour on the hour to try to get the results. I almost got to the point of trying Lisa’s cell phone to get the low down on what happened in the race. I wish with all my heart I could have been there to see it and cheer all of you on. I will be there this spring.
Friday I went out dancing. It was a lot of fun. I was DD so I got to amuse myself by putting my hair into a high ponytail and head banging to Bon Jovi. They play the strangest mix of music here. I also busted out some disco moves. If everyone else is drunk what does it matter what I look like? There was a guy with us who reminds me a bit of Rene the pole-vaulter in a sleazy way. Everyone laughed at me because I couldn’t keep a poker face when he danced with me. I suck at poker faces. I made apple crisp—new recipe idea-- slice up apples, cover with oatmeal mixed with peanut butter, brown sugar and a little bit of flour. Highly recommended. I got up on Saturday and did a bit of homework and ran. I am forever in love with spring. It is so wonderful. I then went camping at Lake Cooleridge. It is about an hour out side of town and due to poor organizational skills we didn’t get out there until well after dark. There were some buildings, a ramada and a bathtub that we filled with water and built a fire underneath to make a hot tub. If it were in the US it would have been quite white trash. We had a bonfire and tried to make s’mores. The problem was that there are no graham crackers here and the marshmallows are weird and half are fruit flavored. The chocolate was good. A lot of people went home at about 1:30. I stayed out despite the rain and slept in the ramada. Unfortunately, an angry drunk southern boy had stolen my sleeping mat and my friends sleeping bag. She was able to use his bag but I was left on the cold concrete with out a mat and my appendages kept falling asleep.
