Yeah for Tracy not being too sick. Yeah for geology. I am in love. Now don’t get too excited I am only in love with New Zealand and how beautiful it is and the amazing rocks and taking geology field trips. I am not eloping at the moment. I haven’t found the right Kiwi yet. I need the green card first. I am just in love with everything I did this weekend. I love the limestone. I love the millions of brachipods both fossilized and recent. I love tramping through sheep pastures to see outcrops. I love being so distracted by the ocean and karst weathering that I cannot even do geology or even take notes. (It does make it hard to write a report though) I love volcanic domes with giant phenocrysts of pyroxene and garnet. I love The giant PILLOW BASALTS. They are amazing. I love the storms that come up from Antarctica and make me freezing cold but also make the most beautiful waves. I love falling repeatedly and embarrassingly. (Not really. I fell once and got a huge gash-bruise-welt on my bum and it bled through my pants making it look as though I had started my period. I wore a jacket around my waist which only made that a more likely situation. I love long van rides and listening to the same songs over and over again. I had the most wonderful weekend. I cannot even explain it to you. I couldn’t stop smiling. People kept telling me to stop and I couldn’t do it. I would just laugh. I love it all so much. I love studying geology. I love working in the field. I am so very happy. I love being made fun of for having a shiny new rock hammer and having to throw it in the sand and jump on it to try to make it look used.
It was a great field trip.
